Got Milk!!!!

Our study is entitled “ The Lactose Content of Commercial Powdered Milk”. It was then my project proposal during my Research I. I did not expect this proposal of mine will be chosen by the panel of judges.

This study is all about the determination of lactose content of milk. Specifically ten commercial powdered milk, five of which are Family's milk and five of which are Infant's Milk. Thus study focuses on lactic acid because the researchers then noticed that commercial powdered milk have standard lactose content and in order to acquire the said data we used the lactic acid content of milk. We used the process titration to determine the lactose content with the basis from the CODEX Standards for lactose content of milk powders is 0.35%standard lactic acid content that is equivalent to 61% of lactose content, Titration is the process of determining the acidity or the basicity of a substance.

The major objective of this study is to determine the lactose content of powdered milk. Also to determine which among the five brands of infant's milk and the five brand of family's milk has the highest lactose content and which has the lowest.

The ten brands of milk that were used in this study were Alacta, Alaska, Anchor, Bear Brand, Bonakid, enfapro, Nestogen, Nido, U-Care 123, and Promil. Among the five Infant's milk, Alacta has the highest lactose content and among the Family's Milk Alaska has the highest.

With the data that we had gathered we then recommend to all the consumers that the milk which has highest lactose content that is good for the infant's is Alacta and for the family's milk Alaska would be good source of nutrients because it has the highest lactose content.
